While Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) kept its promise by announcing the results on Monday morning, it left some of the students in a fix. The students who had applied for reevaluation and photocopies of their answer sheets were not given the photocopies along with their reevaluation marks. Also, a few students couldn’t check their results as their unique student number (USN) turned out to be invalid.
Prathik Jain, an engineering student, said, “I had applied for a photocopy of my Java paper and also for reevaluation. I had paid for both. While I was still waiting for my photocopy, the reevaluation results were announced. When I approached the college administration, they said it’s our mistake. I have not seen my paper at all and I don’t know how to believe the marks is the only marks I am supposed to get it. This problem is not leaving us at all. Should we study for the exams, or keep bothering about this”
While some students are worried about their reevaluation marks, others couldn’t even access their results as their unique student numbers were turned out to be invalid. Another student said, “I’m very anxious as my friends have got their results while I haven’t, and the exams are approaching fast.”
However, Karisiddappa, VC of VTU, tried to clear the air by saying, “Only 70 per cent of the results are out and the remaining will be out soon. We are working on it. We were supposed to get the marks list from the centres but we could not get them. Once we receive the list, we will release it and students do not have anything to worry about.”
On the photocopy and invalid USN issue, the VC told BM, “The photocopy and the reevaluation process happen in tandem. When we get the request, it is pushed for the scanning process and the hard copy is couriered to the students. Meanwhile, the evaluator starts his process. I will take stock of colleges where the photocopies weren’t released. I will ensure the students get their papers or have their fees returned.”
“On the invalid USN issue, I need to check once with the back end and I will inform what has gone wrong. This is probably due to the fact that results of 30 per cent of the students are yet to be published, those students might be facing this problem,” he added.
Meanwhile, the VTU website was down on Monday and Tuesday causing panic among students who tried to pay the fees for the next semester. However, the VC said that, taking the website failure into account, the dates for paying the exam fee will be extended and the new dates will be updated on the website soon.
